Internship program

Our internship program is designed to bring motivated students from diverse backgrounds to the EWANA Center to work on our various projects or support our core team.

We welcome unsolicited applications, however the internship experience and learning gain is our top priority, so we match interns with available resources.

Selected interns are hosted both remotely and in a hybrid format.

The EWANA Center for Cultural Understanding is looking for a:

Social Media Intern (Arabic & English) | 4 months (with possibility of renewal)

Are you passionate about bridging cultures and enhancing global cultural understanding? Do you have the talent for engaging online audiences using both Arabic & English? If so, we, at the EWANA Center, want you to join our team!

We are seeking a motivated and creative student intern to join our team. In this internship, you will play a vital part in amplifying our voice in fostering intercultural understanding across the EWANA region (Europe, West Asia, and North Africa).

Your role will be to start and build a strong online presence mainly across (Instagram), and including platforms like (LinkedIn and X) in the future.

 

Your Responsibilities (maximum 4 hrs. / week):

  • Content Creation
    • Develop engaging and informative social media content (text, images, videos) in both Arabic and English, tailored to young professionals highlighting the values and activities of The EWANA Center.
    • Stay up-to-date on current social media trends and identify opportunities to create content that resonates with EWANA’s target audience, promoting crosscultural exchange of ideas and enhancing regional understanding.
  • Community Engagement
    • Monitor and respond to comments and messages on our Instagram page in a timely and professional manner.
    • Develop strategies to increase follower engagement through polls and other interactive initiatives related to EWANA’s mission and communication.
  • Scheduling and Management
    • Assist with scheduling and drafting social media posts announcements.
    • Monitor like-minded organizations, initiatives and trends, with a particular focus on cultural events and activities across the EWANA region.
    • Maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent posting.
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with the Deputy Executive Director to brainstorm content ideas and develop effective social media strategies, particularly those related to EWANA’s mission, highlighting team members, and activities.
    • Assist with social media campaigns and initiatives related to international engagement, dialogue and cultural integration.

Your Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a student at a recognized university.
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, X, Instagram, etc.).
  • Experience creating engaging social media content (a plus), and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated interest in international affairs and/or interest in political and social context across the EWANA region.
  • Previous coursework or project with an element of cross-cultural exchange (a plus).

What we Offer:

  • This internship position is unpaid. However; the EWANA Center will offer you a certificate of experience upon completion of the term.
  • You will gain valuable experience and work with a young ambitious team.
  • You will develop your creative and writing skills in both Arabic and English.
  • You will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, accumulating knowledge about international affairs, and the role of dialogue in promoting intercultural understanding.
  • We offer a flexible work schedule that accommodates your academic commitments (remote work mostly).
